Jan-Michelle Sawyer,
Portrait Sculptor

Jan-Michelle Sawyer specializes in creating traditional and contemporary sculptures in bronze.

With a Ph.D. in Humanities, Jan-Michelle Sawyer's career has been as an educator. Primarily self-taught, her profession as a sculptor has been influenced by a philosophy embedded in education that every sculpture should inform, educate and inspire the viewer.

As a Kama’aina Jan-Michelle’s love of Hawaii has been an integral inspiration to her in becoming a sculptor. Dividing her time primarily between Hawaii and California clients, Jan-Michelle’s studio is nestled among the beautiful pine trees in the Sierra Foothills.

“When people look at sculpture and learn about the person whose image has been created, an alchemic passing of knowledge transpires between image to viewer. Present and future generations are inspired by these individuals, and an enhanced sense ofcommunity pride emerges, bringing with it positive identity and community pride.”
