"Bruddah Iz" was a beloved figure in Hawaiian music during the 1990s. His pure, light tenor was as famous as his sumo-sized physique. His version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," a tune first made famous by Judy Garland became particularly famous after his death.

Hawaii State Senator Mike Gabbard founded the "Friends of Bruddah Iz" in 2003 to collect monetary donations to fund the installation of the Bruddah Iz statue on the Waianae Coast of Oahu. read more
